Terrain: The terrain has great diversity with a mixture of trees including pine, spruce, cedar, aspen, and paper birch plus a variety of wild berry bushes, including chokecherries, gooseberries, and Oregon grapes. The mountain mahogany brush provides great browse for deer and elk. On the western side of the ranch, near the home, wooded hills lead to an open valley edged by rimrocks with numerous places for food plots. The eastern portion goes into a wild and scenic mountainous terrain with a creek and where the canyons of Bear Run and Little Bear Run have rugged forested hills with dark timber, and steep rimrocks. A good ATV trail through BLM land goes into both canyons. The elevations on the ranch are in the range of 5,250 feet to 6,200 feet above sea level.
Water: A mountain stream with catch pond runs near the northeastern side of the ranch in Bear Run Canyon. A well reported to be 773 feet deep services the home.
Wildlife: The area is home to elk, mule deer, whitetail deer and wild turkey. The mountainous terrain invites a variety of small game animals such as mountain lion, bobcat, coyote, fox, eagles and hawks. Recreation: This ranch joins a vast amount of public land. It only touches other deeded property on the westerly portion of the land. BLM land is adjacent to the northerly and southerly boundaries and the Black Hills National Forest is on the eastern side at the Wyoming-South Dakota Stateline. The opportunities for hunting, hiking, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, photography, ATV or horseback riding are plentiful. Outdoor enthusiast will find endless recreational adventures await.
The Black Hills area abounds with history and places of interest. Many day trips around the area can be enjoyed to destinations like Deerfield Lake, Historic Deadwood, Devils Tower National Monument, Mount Rushmore Memorial, Spearfish Canyon, Custer State Park, Keyhole State Park, and Crazy Horse Monument just to name a few. The closest nine-hole golf course is at Newcastle.

Access and Location: The ranch is in a secluded, yet easily accessible location in the Wyoming Black Hills. It is north of Newcastle, Wyoming via the Beaver Creek Road then approximately 3/10th mile on a private road easement to the west side of the property, then continue another 1/2 mile through the property to the buildings.
