Terrain: 
The terrain is highly diverse, beginning on the southwestern side where rolling pastures, fields and open tablelands near the county road provide easy entry to the ranch and showcase expansive views in every direction, including Devils Tower on the western horizon. From here, the landscape transitions into rugged timbered canyons with colorful rimrock formations, which then open into hidden meadows, offering abundant game habitat and private recreation opportunities. Pine, bur oak, and a variety of native shrubs are found throughout the property. An ATV trail leads into the canyon areas, where a network of trails extends across the property and onto the plateaus on the east side. Multiple vantage points on the elevated plateaus on both sides of the property offer striking vistas of Devils Tower. Elevations range from approximately 4,100 to 4,400 feet. 

According to the Western Regional Climate Center, the 40-year average annual precipitation in the Devils Tower Area is in the range of 17 inches. 


Water Resources: 
Water resources include one water well and two natural springs, supporting both wildlife habitat enhancement and livestock grazing. On the northern side, at a windmill the site, a generator-powered well pumps into two water tanks. This well is reported to be approximately 50 feet deep. The Whitetail Creek drainage, which is typically seasonal, runs through the property. 


Wildlife:
The wildlife habitat is unmatched with plentiful browse, a strong feed base, outstanding areas for food plots, cover, and access to water. Many species of wildlife frequent the property including Whitetail Deer, Mule Deer, Merriam Turkey, fox, coyote, mountain lion, eagles, hawks, and the occasional bear. Elk are seen on the ranch, but typically range further into the nearby Bear Lodge Mountains, with the herds increasing in recent years. Hunting blinds, tree stands and shooting houses are strategically placed around the property.

Recreation and Area Information:
The ranch's setting provides access to a wide range of recreational opportunities in the region. The Black Hills and northeastern Wyoming are rich in western history and renowned for exceptional tourism opportunities. Many of the area's most notable attractions are located within one to two hours of the ranch, including Devils Tower National Monument-the nation's first national monument-just 10 minutes away.

The ranch itself offers a wide range of outdoor pursuits, including hunting, horseback riding, camping, nature photography, ATV riding, and mountain biking. It also benefits from direct access to an adjoining section of State Land.

Expansive sections of the Black Hills National Forest lie just 20 minutes from the ranch, offering access to hundreds of thousands of acres of public land for year-round adventure. Nearby, Keyhole State Park-approximately 30 minutes to the southwest-supports fishing and boating. Higher elevations of the Black Hills feature groomed snowmobile and cross-country ski trails, with downhill skiing near Lead, SD. 

Just 15 minutes northeast, Hulett has small-town charm along with notable amenities, including a highly regarded 18-hole golf course and a local airport. The Golf Club at Devils Tower, on the edge of Hulett, is known for its unique "tarmac-to-tee in 10 minutes" experience and features fine dining at the clubhouse's 77 Steakhouse & Saloon. For additional conveniences, Spearfish, SD-just one hour to the southeast-serves as a regional hub for shopping, dining, arts, culture, entertainment, and medical services.


Access and Location: 
The ranch is accessible year-round. From Highway 24, between Devils Tower and Hulett, turn onto Shaw Road and continue 3.5 miles to the ranch entrance. Shaw Road is a county-maintained gravel road that terminates at the property entrance. From the end of the county road, a short segment of private road easement, which crosses the Lazy 3Y Ranch, will be surveyed for property access.
